I do the back first. because if there is something wrong with the air pressure-mixture-etc. |

I do the back first. because if there is something wrong with the air pressure-mixture-etc. it's easier to fix on the back(for me) Then sides, top last . I akways take more time on it so it's easier to rub out & so a mistake is not seen or hard to fix. Then a single malt!!!!! Mike |

Sides-back-top. That way I'm not getting overspray from the sides onto the top and back. But I imagine you can use pretty much any order and get good results. |

I spray the body flat. I tape off the fingerboard extension area and the bridge area and then tape a block on those areas to hold the guitar off the turn table. I first spray the top (heavy) and the sides (more lightly) and wait a few minutes for it to flash off. I then flip it onto the blocks and spray the back (heavy) and the sides again (more lightly). I then wait long enough for it to be dry enough to be placed on its back again before spraying a second coat. |

I spray the sides then the sound board or back. I believe my fixture is a lot different than most. I spray in the horizontal position (like table top) the fixture has a 360 degree locking, rotating work holding detail. I found that the flat spray plane eliminates sag and allows the coating to flow out a little better My fan is down draft so it sucks everything toward the floor away from the work right from the get go. |

I use a StewMac Freehand Holder which lets me rotate the body. I spray sides, back, top. http://www.stewmac.com/Luthier_Tools/Tools_by_Job/Finishing/Spraying/Freehand_Holder.html |

Its more about how the light happens to be hitting the instrument as I'm holding it. Whatever part I can see best I spray first typically. I usually start with the top or back I find though. |
